What
is Thermoforming?
Thermoforming
converts a flat thermoplastic sheet into more complex three-dimensional
shapes by the use of heat and pressure.
The
thermoforming process involves the heating of a thermoplastic material
to a particular temperature that softens it. The resulting hot and flexible
material is forced against the contours of a mold by mechanical (tools,
plugs, solid mold) or pneumatic (vacuum pressure or compressed air) methods.
The mold gives the sheet the needed shape and detail. |
